Marcus Rashford starts for Manchester United against Ipswich Town

Marcus Rashford has been named in the Manchester United starting line-up for their Premier League meeting with Ipswich Town at Old Trafford.

Michael Carrick has made several changes to his side for the second round of the league season, with Rashford, Kobbie Mainoo and Diogo Dalot all brought into the starting XI.

Rashford leads the Manchester United attack, alongside Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, as the hosts look to respond to their opening-day defeat by Hull City.

Manchester United were beaten 2-0 by Hull City in their first match of the season. Ipswich Town, meanwhile, began their campaign with a 2-1 victory over Sunderland.

Senne Lammens starts in goal for Manchester United, with Dalot, Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martinez and Luke Shaw forming the defence.

Mainoo is included in a midfield three with Yuri Tielemans and Bruno Fernandes. Mbeumo, Cunha and Rashford make up the attacking line.

The Manchester United team is:

Goalkeeper: Senne Lammens

Defenders: Diogo Dalot, Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw

Midfielders: Yuri Tielemans, Kobbie Mainoo, Bruno Fernandes

Forwards: Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, Marcus Rashford

The match is being played at Old Trafford, with Manchester United seeking their first points of the league campaign after their defeat by Hull City.

Ipswich Town travel to Manchester having already secured a win, following their 2-1 success against Sunderland in their opening fixture. Their result gives them an early advantage over Manchester United before the meeting between the two sides.

Rashford’s inclusion is the main change in the Manchester United attack, while Mainoo returns to the starting line-up in midfield and Dalot is selected in defence. Carrick has therefore altered all three areas of his team for the Old Trafford fixture.

Manchester United’s starting XI combines experienced players including Fernandes, Maguire, Martinez and Shaw with the attacking options of Mbeumo, Cunha and Rashford. Ipswich Town will face a side attempting to recover immediately from the disappointment of losing their opening league match.

The fixture represents the second round of the league season for both teams. Manchester United are aiming to avoid a second successive defeat, while Ipswich Town will attempt to follow their victory over Sunderland with another positive result.
