Barcelona’s 2026-27 Champions League journey starts with Feyenoord before heavyweight tests

Barcelona will begin their 2026-27 UEFA Champions League campaign at home against Feyenoord before facing Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City in the league phase.

UEFA announced the fixtures on Saturday after the draw produced a demanding schedule for the Catalan club, who will also meet Aston Villa, Galatasaray, Sabah, Sporting CP and Como.

Barcelona’s opening match will be played at Spotify Camp Nou on 9 September, offering them what appears to be a favourable start before a series of more difficult assignments.

Their complete league-phase schedule is:

– 9 September: Barcelona v Feyenoord Spotify Camp Nou – 13 October: Galatasaray v Barcelona away – 20 October: Paris Saint-Germain v Barcelona away – 3 November: Barcelona v Aston Villa Spotify Camp Nou – 25 November: Sabah v Barcelona away – 8 December: Barcelona v Manchester City Spotify Camp Nou – 20 January: Sporting CP v Barcelona away – 27 January: Barcelona v Como Spotify Camp Nou

The trip to Paris on 20 October will be Barcelona’s first meeting with Paris Saint-Germain in this league phase, while Manchester City will visit Spotify Camp Nou on 8 December.

Barcelona’s route also includes away matches against Galatasaray, Sabah and Sporting CP, with home fixtures against Feyenoord, Aston Villa, Manchester City and Como.

The club published its fixture list alongside the message: “Aquest es el nostre cami a la fase de lliga de la@ChampionsLeague! ⭐️”

The draw was conducted under the revamped Champions League format, which features 36 clubs in a single league table rather than separate groups.

Each team plays eight matches against eight different opponents. Those fixtures are made up of two opponents from each seeding pot, with teams playing one match at home and one away against clubs from each category.

At the end of the league phase, the eight teams finishing in the top eight positions will qualify directly for the last 16.

Teams placed from ninth to 24th will enter a two-legged play-off, with the winners taking the remaining places in the last 16. Clubs finishing from 25th to 36th will be eliminated from the competition and will not drop into the Europa League.

Barcelona therefore have a clear opportunity to make a strong start at home against Feyenoord, but their early away trip to Paris and the later home meeting with Manchester City will provide the most prominent tests in a schedule that combines familiar European contenders with less high-profile opposition.
