Ismael Saibari says Harry Kane is the player he wants to learn from at Bayern Munich

Ismael Saibari has named Harry Kane as the Bayern Munich player who has impressed him most after making an immediate impact on his Bundesliga debut.

The Morocco international, who joined Bayern Munich from PSV Eindhoven this summer, came off the bench to provide two assists in a 5-1 victory over Stuttgart in the opening league match of the season.

Speaking to Sky Sport Germany after Friday’s emphatic win, Saibari said Kane’s qualities had long been admired by him and his friends.

“Harry Kane. I have already discussed this with my friends… Harry is simply the best striker. I am trying to learn from him,” Saibari said.

Saibari entered the match in the 61st minute, replacing Nathaniel Brown, and helped alter the tempo of Vincent Kompany’s side during the second half.

His first assist arrived in the 82nd minute. Saibari carried the ball into the Stuttgart penalty area and used an impressive piece of skill to evade a challenge from one of the visitors’ defenders.

Rather than attempt to shoot, the Morocco international chose to deliver the ball across the area. Alexander Pavlovic was in position to finish from close range, scoring Bayern’s fourth goal of the match.

Saibari was involved again in stoppage time. After Tom Bischof won possession in Stuttgart’s half, Saibari received the ball before playing in Luis Diaz. The Colombia international advanced through on goal and finished into the left corner to complete Bayern’s five-goal haul.

According to Opta, Saibari became the first Bayern Munich player since Toni Kroos on 26 September 2007 to provide two assists as a substitute on his Bundesliga debut.

The appearance against Stuttgart was Saibari’s second outing for Bayern Munich. He had also started on the bench in his first match for the club, coming on during their 2-1 victory over Borussia Dortmund in the German Super Cup last Saturday.

His performance against Stuttgart added to a rapid start to life in Germany and combined a club record with a personal connection to Kane, one of the most established forwards in the Bayern squad.

Kane was the player Saibari identified when asked which team-mate had made the biggest impression on him so far. The Moroccan’s comments came after he had helped Bayern Munich move decisively through the second half against Stuttgart, setting up Pavlovic and Diaz in the closing stages.

Saibari’s arrival from PSV Eindhoven has therefore already produced two notable moments in his first appearances for the Bavarian club: a debut win in the German Super Cup and a record-setting Bundesliga performance as a substitute.
