Mostafa Mohamed set to join Konyaspor from Nantes pending official announcement

Mostafa Mohamed is expected to leave Nantes and join Turkish club Konyaspor, with only the formal announcement still required to complete the move.

According to Turkish broadcaster HT, Konyaspor have reached an agreement to sign the Egypt international from Nantes for a fee of 750,000 euros. The payment will be made in three instalments.

Mohamed has completed his medical examination without any problems and has received final approval for the transfer. He is expected to join Konyaspor after the departure of the team’s striker Kramer.

The 27-year-old still has one season remaining on his Nantes contract, which is due to expire in the summer of 2027. Despite that remaining commitment, the French club have agreed to allow him to leave for a relatively modest fee.

Nantes were relegated to France’s second tier last season, a development that has preceded a difficult period for Mohamed at the club. The striker missed most of Nantes’ pre-season after breaking away from training at the start of the campaign. He later returned to work with the club’s reserve team.

Mohamed was also absent from Nantes’ first three matches of the season.

The proposed move would take him back to the Turkish league, where he previously played for Galatasaray. He could also be joined in the competition by fellow Egypt international Mohamed Salah, who has joined Trabzonspor.

Mohamed began his Turkish career with Galatasaray before moving permanently to Nantes. The French club signed him from Galatasaray for 6.5m euros.

Since arriving at Nantes three years ago, Mohamed has made 136 appearances for the club and scored 29 goals. His record includes all of the matches he has played during his time in France, although his involvement has been affected by his recent absence from the first-team group.

The agreement with Konyaspor would bring an end to his Nantes spell once the remaining formalities are completed. The transfer is not yet official, but the medical examination and final approval have already been completed, leaving the announcement as the final step before Mohamed joins the Turkish club.
