Mamadou Coulibaly aims higher after Monaco win

Mamadou Coulibaly enjoyed a standout night as Monaco beat Gornik Zabrze 4-1 to book their place in the Conference League phase.

The 22-year-old winger scored and assisted, but he still left the pitch with one clear regret: Monaco conceded late and missed out on a clean sheet.

Speaking after the match, Coulibaly said Monaco were satisfied with the result but aware there is still room to improve. He stressed that the team must keep the same intensity in Europe, where the schedule will become more demanding with two matches each week.

That challenge, he believes, can help Monaco grow. The young attacker said the club need to use this competition as a springboard, with the longer-term goal of pushing back into Ligue 1’s top four and ultimately qualifying for the Champions League.

Coulibaly also highlighted the importance of his recent preparation. He felt his summer work had gone well and said his strong start, including a goal and an assist, should be followed by more progress in the areas his coach wants him to sharpen.

He added that he trusts a coach who communicates clearly and gives him responsibility, saying he wants to listen, learn and apply the advice he is receiving. For Monaco, that mindset could be just as valuable as his direct contribution on the pitch.
