Eduard Spertsyan’s five direct contributions underline rapid Al Ahli impact

Eduard Spertsyan has made an immediate impression at Al Ahli, registering three goals and two assists in his first four appearances since joining the Saudi club during the current summer transfer window.

The Armenia international’s five goal contributions have come across the Roshn Saudi League, the King’s Cup and the FIFA Intercontinental Cup, underlining how quickly he has adapted to his new team and become part of its attacking plans.

Spertsyan began his Al Ahli career by scoring the only goal in the opening-round victory over Al-Diriyah in the Roshn Saudi League. His finish secured the club’s first three points of the competition and offered an early indication of his attacking value.

He then created one of Al Ahli’s goals in a 4-0 win against Abha before producing another decisive display in the King’s Cup. Against Al-Anwar, Spertsyan scored an outstanding goal and set up another as Al Ahli won 2-1 to reach the last 16.

His fourth appearance came against Auckland City in Al Ahli’s opening match of the FIFA Intercontinental Cup. Although he did not score, Spertsyan again played a central role in the decisive moment, supplying the pass for Saleh Abu Al-Shamat to score the only goal of the game.

The Armenian midfielder started the move from the left, evaded Auckland City’s defensive attention and carried the ball beyond the marking before delivering a precise pass to Abu Al-Shamat, who finished into the net.

That assist continued a remarkable start in which Spertsyan has influenced the result in almost every match. His importance, however, extends beyond the headline figures.

Primarily a playmaker, the 25-year-old has quickly emerged as one of Al Ahli’s most versatile attacking options. He can create chances, deliver key passes and occupy several different areas of the pitch, offering the coaching staff a range of tactical possibilities within the same game.

Spertsyan is comfortable moving on either flank and can also operate through the middle. His willingness to enter the penalty area and finish attacks makes him difficult for opponents to track, particularly because he does not remain in one fixed position.

At different stages of a match, he can drop between the lines to build attacks, move wide to create an overload or appear inside the box as an additional forward. That movement has allowed him to find spaces consistently and has added variety to Al Ahli’s attacking approach.
