Lens target France defender El Chadaille Bitshiabu on loan from Leipzig
RC Lens are in talks with RB Leipzig over a possible loan move for French defender El Chadaille Bitshiabu before the summer transfer window closes.
Sky Germany reports that Lens have stepped up their interest in the 21-year-old after initially identifying him as a potential target.
The Ligue 1 club are now negotiating with Leipzig over a temporary transfer that would allow Bitshiabu to return to France.
Bitshiabu interested in Lens move
A move to Lens could appeal to Bitshiabu, who would return to his homeland while also having the opportunity to play in the UEFA Champions League.
The French defender is reportedly interested in the proposal as Lens seek to strengthen their squad ahead of their European campaign.
Bitshiabu came through French football before moving abroad, and a return to Ligue 1 would give him an opportunity to continue his development in familiar surroundings.
Leipzig want permanent transfer
The main obstacle to the deal is the financial terms.
Lens would need Leipzig to make concessions for a loan agreement to be reached, while the Bundesliga club are reportedly more interested in selling the defender permanently.
That difference in preference could prove decisive with the transfer window approaching its conclusion.
Lens will now have to convince Leipzig to accept a temporary move if they are to bring Bitshiabu back to France and add him to their squad for the new campaign
