Jonathan David resists Juventus exit as Hull City and European clubs show interest

Jonathan David is determined to remain at Juventus despite the club’s efforts to find a solution for his departure during the transfer window.

The Canada striker wants to stay in Turin and prove his ability to new manager Luciano Spalletti, as Juventus continue discussions with his representatives over his future.

According to CalcioMercato, fresh contact took place between the Juventus hierarchy and David’s representatives in recent hours. The talks centred on the player’s position and the possibility of resolving a situation that remains unsettled.

Juventus are continuing to apply pressure in an attempt to reach an agreement, but David has not changed his stance. The 25-year-old wants to continue with the club, convince Spalletti and revive his Serie A career after joining from Lille.

David established himself as a leading forward during his time with Lille and continues to attract interest from several clubs, particularly in France. Paris FC are among the teams monitoring his position, while Hull City have also shown interest in signing the Canadian.

There has also been speculation linking David with Fiorentina, should Moise Kean complete a move to Como. Atletico Madrid have likewise been mentioned as a possible destination, with a potential exchange involving Alexander Sørloth reportedly under consideration.

Although David remains committed to staying, his position could change if Juventus maintain their pressure. The club are keen for him to leave because his departure would create room in the squad and help them complete further signings before the transfer window closes.

Juventus’ sporting operation, led by Giovanni Carnevali and Frederic Massara, is working on the addition of a physically powerful striker. That is a position Spalletti has been asking the club to strengthen for some time.

The need for that type of forward was underlined after Juventus’ 1-0 victory over Frosinone on Sunday. Following the match, Spalletti criticised the performance of Randal Kolo Muani and indicated that the striker Juventus are seeking may have a different profile and set of qualities.

David was not involved in Juventus’ opening Serie A match of the season, adding to uncertainty over his role under Spalletti. However, the player still hopes to change the manager’s view by remaining in Turin and competing for a place in the team.

He joined Juventus from Lille in the summer of 2025 and has made 46 appearances for the club. During that time, David has contributed 13 goals, scoring eight and providing five assists.
