Dutch club submits offer for Girona midfielder as negotiations continue

PSV Eindhoven have emerged as the leading contender for Morocco midfielder Azzedine Ounahi after reportedly submitting an offer to Girona for the player during the current summer transfer window.

According to Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, PSV have formally approached Girona as they seek to reach an agreement for the Moroccan international.

Discussions between the two clubs are continuing, with no final deal yet in place.

The Dutch club’s interest represents an important development in Ounahi’s uncertain future, with several teams having monitored his situation in recent weeks.

PSV make move for Ounahi

PSV’s reported offer comes despite the Dutch club not appearing willing to activate the €25m release clause included in Ounahi’s contract.

Girona are instead looking for an agreement that would provide a significant financial return from the midfielder’s departure.

The Spanish club are keen to protect the value of one of their prominent players, particularly after his performances at the World Cup.

The Dutch side have now moved ahead of several interested clubs in the race for the Moroccan, although negotiations remain ongoing.

Ounahi has attracted attention from a number of clubs during the summer, with PSV now reportedly occupying the strongest position.

Ajax Amsterdam, Hull City and Ipswich Town have all been linked with the midfielder, while Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad and other Spanish sides have also shown interest.

The number of clubs monitoring Ounahi has added to the uncertainty surrounding his next move, but PSV’s decision to make an offer has given the Dutch club an advantage in the current negotiations.

Ounahi’s future uncertain after Girona relegation

A departure from Girona had been widely expected after the club were relegated to the Spanish second tier.

Ounahi returned to the club after representing Morocco at the World Cup and taking a break following the tournament.

His future, however, has remained unresolved as Girona continue to look for a way to conclude their association with the player.

The Spanish club are understood to be determined not to allow one of their key assets to leave for less than his market value.
