EgyptAir becomes Barcelona’s exclusive airline partner until 2029
EgyptAir has signed a partnership agreement with Barcelona that will make it the club’s global partner until the end of the 2028-29 season.
Under the agreement, Egypt’s national airline will become the exclusive official airline of Barcelona’s men’s first football team, basketball team and handball team.
The handball team will also wear the EgyptAir logo on the front of its shirts during matches.
In a joint statement, the two organisations said: “This step comes as part of EgyptAir’s plan to expand its fleet and international flight network. It also confirms the company’s commitment to developing its services and providing its customers with an outstanding travel experience.”
The statement added: “For Barcelona, the new sponsorship agreement represents an opportunity to expand the global reach of the Barcelona brand, connect with new markets and strengthen its position as one of the most influential sports clubs on the international stage.”
Ahmed Adel, chairman of EgyptAir Holding Company, described the agreement as a landmark moment for the airline.
“Partnering with one of the oldest clubs in the world represents an unprecedented achievement in the history of Egypt’s national airline,” he said.
“Through this cooperation, EgyptAir’s 95-year history comes together with Barcelona’s global sporting leadership, opening new prospects for connecting with football fans around the world.”
Adel added: “Our presence at the signing ceremony reflects the shared vision of both parties to highlight the role EgyptAir plays in connecting cultures, civilisations and peoples. This is a role that the world of sport has consistently embodied throughout history.”
EgyptAir is the national airline of the Arab Republic of Egypt and is one of the oldest carriers in the Middle East and Africa. It was established in 1932 and is headquartered in Cairo.
The airline operates a growing network of domestic and international services connecting Egypt with more than 85 destinations across Africa, Europe, the Middle East, Asia and North America.
As a member of the Star Alliance, EgyptAir gives passengers access to a wider global network and a range of travel benefits, alongside its loyalty programme, EgyptAir Plus.
The company is currently carrying out an ambitious transformation and growth strategy. Its plans focus on expanding its route network, modernising its fleet, improving the passenger experience, digital transformation, strategic alliances and sustainability.
EgyptAir says those priorities are intended to reinforce its position as a competitive global airline and as a key gateway connecting Egypt with the rest of the world.
For Barcelona, the partnership provides a new platform to promote its brand internationally while extending its links with markets served by the Egyptian carrier. The agreement covers the club’s principal men’s sporting teams, with EgyptAir’s most visible branding presence set to come through the handball side’s match shirts.
