Oyku Gurman sings tribute to Mohamed Salah after Trabzonspor double

Mohamed Salah has quickly become a talking point among football supporters in Turkiye, with his impressive start at Trabzonspor inspiring a special on-stage tribute from Turkish singer Oyku Gurman.

Gurman dedicated a song to the Egypt captain after Salah scored twice to guide Trabzonspor to a 2-1 victory over Basaksehir in the second round of the Turkish Super Lig on Sunday.

The singer shared a video on her Instagram story showing her performing at an event. During the performance, she repeatedly sang the name of the former Liverpool forward, including the words: “Allah… Allah… Allah… Mohamed Salah.”

The gesture carried an added significance because Gurman is from the city of Trabzon, although she was raised in Istanbul.

Salah has made an immediate impact since joining Trabzonspor, with his two-goal performance securing the club’s first victory of the campaign. The Egyptian had already featured in two matches for the team before the Basaksehir game.

Trabzonspor began with a draw against Kasımpasa before losing to Hungarian side Ferencvarosi in a qualifying tie for the UEFA Europa League. Salah then delivered a decisive contribution against Basaksehir, scoring both of his side’s goals in an eye-catching display.

The Egyptian forward moved to Trabzonspor during the current summer transfer window following the end of his spell with Liverpool. His time at the English club also included a historic World Cup campaign with Egypt, during which he helped the national team reach the last 16 for the first time.

Salah’s arrival has therefore attracted considerable attention in Turkiye, but his influence has extended beyond his performances on the pitch. His goals against Basaksehir have already prompted a public musical celebration from one of the country’s best-known singers, underlining the excitement surrounding his early contribution to Trabzonspor.

For Gurman, the tribute also reflected her connection with Trabzon. Although her life and upbringing have been centred on Istanbul, her association with the Black Sea city gave the performance a particular local connection as she celebrated Salah’s decisive display.

The victory over Basaksehir marked the latest stage in what has been a busy opening period for Salah at his new club. After the draw with Kasımpasa and the defeat by Ferencvarosi in the UEFA Europa League qualifying campaign, he responded with two goals to give Trabzonspor a 2-1 league win and establish himself as the central figure in the team’s early-season story.
