Newcastle consider late double swoop for Anis Hadj Moussa and Ez Abde

Newcastle United are exploring moves for Algeria winger Anis Hadj Moussa and Morocco forward Ez Abde as they seek to strengthen their wide options before the summer transfer window closes.

The Magpies are understood to be looking for creative players capable of operating on either flank to help satisfy new manager Matthias Jaissle. Discussions over the two potential deals could resume in the coming days, with Newcastle hoping to complete both before 1 September, when the transfer window shuts across Europe’s five major leagues.

Hadj Moussa has emerged as a possible target on the right-hand side after attracting interest from a number of European and Arab clubs. According to TEAMtalk, Newcastle’s recruitment department has already made enquiries about the 24-year-old Algeria international.

The winger has made 18 appearances for Algeria and scored twice. He was part of the Fennecs squad that reached the last 16 of the 2026 World Cup.

Hadj Moussa is under contract with Feyenoord until 2030, but would reportedly favour a move to the Premier League if he leaves the Dutch club. The Paris-region-born player has previously played in France, Belgium and the Netherlands and is keen to test himself in England’s top flight.

Newcastle are also said to be in contact with Ez Abde, although the Morocco international is currently recovering from a knee sprain suffered while on international duty at the beginning of June. The injury forced him to withdraw from the World Cup.

The 24-year-old has won 37 caps for Morocco and scored twice. He is contracted to Real Betis until 2029 and is viewed by Newcastle as a suitable replacement for Anthony Gordon, who has left the club for Barcelona.

Like Hadj Moussa, Abde is believed to be open to the possibility of joining Newcastle this summer. The club see both players as realistic targets and believe the deals could progress quickly if the necessary conditions are met.

Jaissle is particularly impressed by the pair’s ability to stretch defensive lines and create danger in the final third. Their profiles are considered well suited to the attacking changes the German coach wants to introduce at St James’ Park.

Newcastle’s interest comes with the club aiming to add more creativity and depth in wide areas during the final stage of the window. Internal discussions are continuing over the feasibility of bringing both players to the Premier League, while further contact is expected shortly.

The Magpies want the two transfer situations resolved by 1 September. However, any move will depend on the clubs reaching agreement over the conditions of the deals and on the players’ respective situations, particularly Abde’s recovery from injury.
