Ouaddou reveals Radiopane message before Pirates striker scored

Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has praised Boitumelo Radiopane after backing the striker to make the most of his opportunity in the 2-0 victory over Sekhukhune United.

Radiopane scored his first goal of the 2026/27 season and also set up Oswin Appollis as Orlando Pirates secured all three points at Orlando Amstel Arena. The forward was brought into the starting line-up in place of Yanela Mbuthuma.

The result strengthened Orlando Pirates’ position at the top of the Betway Premiership. Ezimnyaka Ngenkani now have a three-point advantage over second-placed Kaizer Chiefs, with Mamelodi Sundowns in third.

Speaking to SuperSport TV after the match, Ouaddou explained that Radiopane had been told in advance that he would start and urged the 24-year-old to seize the chance presented to him.

“I told him from yesterday that he’s going to start,” Ouaddou said.

“So, I told him that there are some games that you have to take your chance. For me he take his chance so it’s good.

“It’s good to have one more striker that is able to score, very positive for his confidence.

“I think this boy has everything to be successful. He has the profile of a true striker.

“I’m very happy for him to score today. Let’s hope that he’s going to keep the spirit and maybe to score more goals.”

Radiopane’s contribution gave Ouaddou further encouragement as he looks to build competition and depth within his attacking options. The coach described the striker’s goal as important for his confidence and welcomed the presence of another forward capable of making a decisive impact.

The victory also ensured Orlando Pirates continued their strong start to the campaign, while Radiopane’s performance provided a timely response after he was selected to replace Mbuthuma.

Ouaddou believes the striker possesses the qualities required to develop into a successful frontman. His assessment was based not only on the goal against Sekhukhune United, but also on the broader profile he sees in the player.
