Real Betis manager Manuel Pellegrini leaves door open for Sofyan Amrabat’s return

Real Betis coach Manuel Pellegrini is ready for the return of Morocco international Sofyan Amrabat as the club seeks to bolster their midfield.

Betis are understood to be in the market for a defensive midfielder, and Pellegrini appears to favour the idea of bringing in a player who already understands the club’s system and expectations.

Speaking ahead of Valencia clash, Pellegrini highlighted the advantage of working with a player who is already familiar with the team, leaving door open for Amrabat return.

“As a coach, it’s better to have a player who has been here before and knows the dynamics of the game,” Pellegrini said.

Amrabat’s situation at Fenerbahçe has also fuelled speculation over a potential return to Spain. Meanwhile, the Moroccan midfielder is not currently part of the club’s plans for the new season.

Fenerbahçe are reportedly prepared to consider offers for the 29-year-old, with Betis and Greek side Olympiacos among the clubs showing interest.

Amrabat made 23 appearances for Betis during his loan spell last season, featuring 17 times in La Liga and six times in the Europa League.

His time in Seville was disrupted by an ankle problem, which eventually required surgery in January and limited his availability during the campaign.

With Betis looking for additional strength in defensive midfield and Amrabat potentially available, Pellegrini’s comments could further fuel speculation that the Morocco international could return to the club.
