Paris FC have extended Rudy Matondo’s contract until 2030, securing the future of the 18-year-old midfielder and reinforcing his growing importance to the club’s plans.
Matondo signed the new agreement on Thursday. The France youth international joined Paris FC from AJ Auxerre in January 2026 for 17 million euros and has now committed his long-term future to the Paris-based club.
The longer deal had effectively been planned since his arrival. Because Matondo was a minor at the time, regulations governing players of his age meant he could not initially sign a contract beyond 2028.
The understanding was that he would agree fresh terms once he reached adulthood. That arrangement has now been completed, with Paris FC formally announcing the extension on their website on Thursday.
The deal represents a significant show of confidence in one of the club’s most highly rated young players. Paris FC, majority-owned by the Arnault family, are seeking to develop Matondo as part of their long-term sporting project.
Matondo makes early impact
Matondo quickly began to show why Paris FC were prepared to invest heavily in him. During his first months in the capital, he established himself as part of the club’s Ligue 1 rotation under manager Antoine Kombouare.
He made 11 Ligue 1 appearances, starting eight of those matches. His most notable contribution came on 3 May, when he scored twice in a 4-0 victory over Brest.
That performance made Matondo the youngest player in Paris FC’s history to score two goals in a single Ligue 1 match. The achievement underlined both his potential and his ability to influence important games despite his age.
His role has since changed under Liam Rosenior. Matondo has not been a regular starter since the manager’s arrival, but he remains an important midfield option this season and continues to feature in the club’s rotation.
Paris FC believe the teenager still has considerable room to develop. By extending his contract until 2030, the club have given him a stable environment in which to continue that progress while making clear that he remains part of their plans.
The decision also reflects the club’s wider approach. Having paid 17 million euros to sign Matondo from Auxerre, Paris FC now want to build on his potential and establish him within the team for the long term.
Matondo still has more to prove, but his new agreement protects one of the club’s most promising assets. It also reflects Paris FC’s ambition to build around young players who can take on greater responsibility over the coming seasons.
Paris FC will next face Rennes in their seventh match of the French championship.
