Werder Bremen rule out Salim Musah transfer

Werder Bremen have firmly rejected suggestions that Salim Musah could leave the club this summer.

The response follows comments from the player’s representative, Danny Bachmann, who indicated that the 20-year-old forward was unhappy with his limited playing time.

Werder’s head of licensed football, Peter Niemeyer, insisted that Musah remains an important part of the club’s plans. “We have a very high opinion of Salim. He did well during pre-season and is an important part of the team. A transfer for Salim is not an option for us. That is ruled out,” Niemeyer told Bild.

Musah has slipped to third in Werder’s current striker pecking order after the arrivals of Niclas Fullkrug and Cedric Itten. The 1.98-metre right-footer played only six minutes in the opening round of the German Cup, prompting questions about his immediate role.

Niemeyer explained the selection decision by saying, “The new players were supposed to quickly get to know our playing style in the cup. That is why the lineup was chosen this way.”

Despite the limited involvement, Werder have no intention of facilitating a departure. Musah will now aim to convince the coaching staff through training and future appearances, while the club expects competition to improve the entire attack.
