National Bank of Egypt have confirmed that Egypt international striker Osama Faisal has suffered a torn knee cartilage and will require urgent surgery.
Faisal returned to his club after recently completing international duty with Egypt.
Mohamed El-Asyouti, National Bank of Egypt’s head of medical affairs, said scans and medical examinations had confirmed the injury.
“The medical examinations and scans undergone by Osama Faisal, the team’s striker, showed that he has suffered a tear in the knee cartilage, which requires urgent surgical intervention,” he said.
“The date of the operation and the medical rehabilitation programme needed to ensure the player’s return as soon as possible will be determined in the coming days.”
Faisal joined Egypt’s latest training camp after Mohamed Salah, the Trabzonspor forward, left the squad following the match against Angola in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The striker has scored twice in two appearances for National Bank of Egypt this season.
Faisal, who previously played for Zamalek, has made 141 appearances for National Bank of Egypt, scoring 35 goals and providing 10 assists.
He has also won 18 international caps for Egypt.
