Andre Onana says Mohamed Salah can make Trabzonspor ‘special’ when he is happy

Andre Onana has highlighted Mohamed Salah’s importance to Trabzonspor after their 2-1 victory over Basaksehir in the Turkish league, saying the Egyptian forward’s happiness can have a direct impact on the team.

Salah scored for Trabzonspor as they secured an impressive win against one of the league’s leading sides. The result moved Trabzonspor up to third place with four points, level on goal difference with leaders Galatasaray.

Speaking to reporters after the match, Trabzonspor goalkeeper Onana said the club were determined to keep Salah satisfied because of the influence he can have on the team.

“Mohamed Salah is very important for us, we want him to be happy, and we already know that when we make him happy, he will make our team happy too,” said Onana.

Salah made his first start for Trabzonspor in the Turkish league in the match against Basaksehir. His goal also placed him among a select group of Egyptian players to have scored for the club in the competition.

He is now the third Egyptian to find the net for Trabzonspor in the Turkish league, following Mahmoud Hassan ‘Trezeguet’ and Ayman Abdelaziz.

The victory was secured in a closely contested match at Trabzon’s stadium, where Trabzonspor came from the game with a 2-1 success over Basaksehir. The result carried particular significance for Onana because of the quality of the opposition.

“Our opponent may be one of the best teams in the league,” he added. “Being able to beat them with this performance and a good result is very important.”
