Jordan request Egyptian referees for Al-Faisaly v Al-Hussein Super Cup final

The Jordan Football Association has asked the Egyptian Football Association to appoint Egyptian officials for Friday’s Jordanian Super Cup final between Al-Faisaly and Al-Hussein at Amman International Stadium.

The request is being made with Tarek Mostafa in charge of Al-Faisaly, having taken over the Jordanian club at the start of the current season.

The Egyptian Football Association confirmed the approach on its official account, saying Jordan had requested “an Egyptian international referee and an Egyptian international assistant referee” to take part in the final.

It added: “The Jordan Football Association made the request after the successful participation of the Egyptian duo Mohamed Maarouf and Ahmed Hossam Taha in the semi-final stage of the competition. Maarouf took charge of both matches in this round, while Ahmed Hossam Taha was part of the video assistant referee teams.”

The appointment request follows the involvement of the two Egyptian officials in the semi-finals and will see Egyptian referees considered for the decisive match of the 2026-27 Jordanian Super Cup.

Al-Faisaly reached the final by beating Al-Wehdat 2-1. Ahmed Ersan scored both goals for Al-Faisaly, while Boli Sambo scored Al-Wehdat’s only goal.

Al-Hussein secured their place in the final with a 5-0 victory over Al-Ramtha. Brian Riascos, Mahmoud Mardi, Youssef Qush, who scored twice, and Aref Al-Haj were on target for Al-Hussein.

The final will be played at 20:00 local time on Friday, 28 August, at Amman International Stadium, where Al-Faisaly and Al-Hussein will meet to decide the Jordanian Super Cup.

Mostafa’s Al-Faisaly side will go into the match after overcoming Al-Wehdat in a closely contested semi-final, while Al-Hussein’s emphatic win over Al-Ramtha means they advanced with considerable attacking momentum.

The Egyptian Football Association’s announcement did not identify the officials who would be nominated for the final, but confirmed that the Jordanian federation had formally requested one international referee and one international assistant referee from Egypt.
