Sekhukhune United and Orlando Pirates name teams for MTN8 semi-final
Reigning MTN8 champions Orlando Pirates begin their semi-final defence against Sekhukhune United at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on 22 August 2026.
The first leg brings together two sides who needed extra time to reach the last four. Pirates eventually overcame Durban City 3-2 in the opening round, while Sekhukhune United edged past AmaZulu FC 4-3.
Pirates have since drawn with AmaZulu FC and followed that result with a 2-0 league victory over Chippa United last weekend.
Sekhukhune United also enter the match after a positive league result, having beaten Polokwane City 2-0 last weekend. Cedric Kaze’s side will now look to take an advantage into the return fixture against the defending champions.
The tie is the first of three consecutive meetings between the clubs. After the MTN8 semi-final first leg, they will meet again in the Premiership on Wednesday before the second cup fixture completes the sequence.
Both teams have now announced their starting XIs for the clash.
