Malick Ndiaye joins UD Barbastro to begin new chapter in Spain’s Segunda Federacion

Senegalese centre-back Malick Ndiaye has joined UD Barbastro from Depor Fabril on loan, completing a move that will keep the 19-year-old at the Segunda Federacion club until 30 June 2027.

Ndiaye moves to Barbastro after representing Depor Fabril in Spain’s Primera Federacion – Group I. His arrival gives the club a 1.90m defender who has already experienced senior football in the Spanish league system despite his age.

The defender made five appearances for Depor Fabril during the 2025-26 campaign, playing a total of 245 minutes. He now switches from the third tier to UD Barbastro, who compete in Segunda Federacion – Group II.

Ndiaye joined Depor Fabril from Depor Under-19s on 1 July 2025. His move to Barbastro is therefore his second change of club since stepping up from youth football, and marks his first recorded transfer away from Depor’s senior setup.

Born on 27 October 2006, Ndiaye is a Senegal international by nationality and plays primarily as a centre-back. His physical profile, combined with experience gained at Depor Fabril, will form the basis of his new role in Barbastro’s squad.

The loan agreement has been set to run through the 2026-27 season, with Ndiaye scheduled to return to Depor Fabril at its conclusion. The arrangement places his longer-term future at the LaLiga academy-linked club while allowing him to continue his development in a different Segunda Federacion group.

UD Barbastro’s move also represents a change in competition for the defender. Depor Fabril’s previous campaign was in Primera Federacion – Group I, whereas Barbastro’s schedule comes in Segunda Federacion – Group II, giving Ndiaye a new league environment while keeping him in Spanish football.

The transfer was completed on 21 August 2026, with Ndiaye joining Barbastro under a loan agreement from Depor Fabril. His current move is scheduled to end on 30 June 2027.
