Werder Bremen target €4m move for Batista Mendy

Werder Bremen could sign Trabzonspor midfielder Batista Mendy for a modest €4 million as they look to reinforce their midfield before the transfer window closes.

The Bundesliga club have identified the 26-year-old as a possible addition, with Trabzonspor reportedly open to selling him.

Mendy remains under contract with the Turkish side until 2027, but his future appears uncertain after spending last season on loan at Sevilla. The French midfielder featured in La Liga during that spell and could now be offered another opportunity in one of Europe’s major leagues.

Werder’s interest is not new. Football Transfers reported earlier this month that Mendy was on the club’s shortlist as Bremen assess potential options for the holding-midfield role. Turkish outlet Fanatik has since supported that claim while reporting Trabzonspor’s proposed €4 million asking price.

However, Werder will face competition for his signature. Getafe, Monza and Torino have also been linked with Mendy, increasing the likelihood of a multi-club battle if negotiations accelerate.

For Bremen, a €4 million fee would represent a potentially affordable route to securing an experienced defensive midfielder. Mendy’s ability to operate in front of the defence, combined with his recent experience in Spain and Turkey, could make him an attractive option.

No agreement has been reported, and the player’s next destination remains undecided.
