Al Hilal close in on club unbeaten record after dominant Al Fayha win
Al Hilal moved to within two matches of equalling their longest unbeaten run in Saudi Pro League history after a 3-0 victory away to Al Fayha on Thursday.
Sergej Milinkovic-Savic opened the scoring in the 31st minute before Sultan Mandash doubled Al Hilal’s advantage immediately after half-time. Nasser Al-Dawsari completed the victory with a third goal in the 88th minute.
The result gave Al Hilal a second successive win at the start of the campaign and kept them at the top of the table with six points from two matches. They had begun their league campaign with a 4-2 victory over Al Faisaly in the opening round.
Al Hilal have now gone 44 consecutive matches without defeat in the Saudi Pro League. That run began after their 3-1 loss to Al Nassr on 4 April 2025.
The club need to avoid defeat in their next two league fixtures, against Al Khaleej and Al Ahli, to match their own record of 46 consecutive unbeaten matches. That previous best was established between May 2023 and November 2024.
They are also closing in on the all-time unbeaten record in the professional league. Al Ahli currently hold that mark after avoiding defeat in 51 successive matches between 2014 and 2016. Al Hilal are seven matches away from equalling it.
Thursday’s victory was secured despite Al Fayha having the opportunity to reduce the deficit from the penalty spot in the closing stages. Cresencio Summerville sent his 81st-minute penalty over the crossbar, allowing Al Hilal to preserve their two-goal lead before Al-Dawsari added the final goal.
The defeat compounded a difficult beginning to the season for Al Fayha, who remain without a point after two matches. Their first fixture ended in a 2-1 defeat by Neom, leaving them at the bottom of the table.
Al Hilal’s latest win extends a remarkable period of consistency in the Saudi Pro League and puts them within touching distance of two significant milestones. A result in each of their next two matches would see them equal the longest unbeaten sequence in the club’s league history, while seven more games without defeat would bring them level with Al Ahli’s competition record.
