FC Koper bring Congolese-French midfielder Nsana Simon back to Slovenia
Congolese-French midfielder Nsana Simon has joined FC Koper from Azerbaijan’s Sumgayit on a free transfer, strengthening the Slovenian club’s midfield for the 2026-27 season.
Simon, 26, completed the move on 20 August 2026 and will play in Slovenia’s Prva Liga after leaving Sumgayit, where he had spent the second half of the 2025-26 campaign. He had joined the Azerbaijani club as a free agent in November 2025 after previously leaving Turkish side Sakaryaspor.
The central midfielder began the 2025-26 season without a club following his departure from Sakaryaspor in July 2025. His move to Sumgayit restored his involvement in senior football before he switched leagues again to join Koper.
The transfer takes Simon back to a country where he has already built significant experience. He spent two seasons with NK Bravo after joining the club from Swiss side FC St Gallen on a free transfer in July 2021. Simon made 58 appearances in the Prva Liga during his career, scoring three goals and providing three assists.
He also recorded 47 appearances in Turkey’s 1. Lig, along with spells in France, Switzerland and Azerbaijan. His earlier career was developed in the RC Lens system, where he progressed from the club’s youth sides to RC Lens B.
Born in Saint-Denis, France, Simon holds Congolese and French nationalities. He stands 1.71 metres tall and is left-footed, with central midfield listed as his primary position.
Koper compete in the Prva Liga, the division in which Simon has accumulated his highest number of senior appearances in a single competition. His arrival gives the club a midfielder with experience of Slovenian football and a career that has taken him across several European leagues.
Simon’s move follows a spell in which his recorded market value stood at €300,000, although no transfer fee was paid for his switch from Sumgayit. The deal was registered on 20 August, formally completing his move to FC Koper as a free agent.
