Hertha BSC add Germany-Ghana winger Farid Alfa-Ruprecht on loan
Germany-Ghana winger Farid Alfa-Ruprecht has joined Hertha BSC from Leverkusen on loan, giving the 2. Bundesliga club a new option on the right side of attack.
The 20-year-old’s move was completed on 20 August 2026, with his contract at Hertha running until 30 June 2027. No transfer fee has been disclosed for the loan.
Alfa-Ruprecht is a right-footed right winger who was born in Hamburg and stands 1.81m tall. He joins Hertha after leaving a Leverkusen side competing in the Bundesliga, moving into Germany’s second tier as the Berlin club strengthen their attacking options.
The player’s record includes success in English youth football during his time with Manchester City’s academy. He was part of the City Under-21 team that won the U21 Premier League title in the 2024-25 season, having previously helped the club’s Under-18 side win the English Youth League in 2022-23.
He also claimed the English FA Youth Cup with Manchester City Under-18 in 2023-24, adding another academy honour to his record before his move to Leverkusen.
Alfa-Ruprecht’s arrival gives Hertha a player capable of operating from the right wing, with his preferred and main position listed in that role. His right-footed profile provides a clear positional fit for the club’s attack as they compete in the 2. Bundesliga.
Hertha are the player’s current club following the completed loan transfer, while his listed market value is €3m. The agreement keeps him in Berlin through the end of June 2027.
The move also represents a return to Germany for a player with both German and Ghanaian nationality, after his development in England and spell with Leverkusen in the Bundesliga. His senior club pathway has therefore included academy football with Manchester City, a Bundesliga association with Leverkusen and now a switch to Hertha.
Alfa-Ruprecht has joined Hertha BSC on loan from Leverkusen, with the deal running until 30 June 2027.
