Morocco: Ittihad Tanger sign former Raja striker Younes Najari on free transfer
Moroccan top-flight side Ittihad Tanger have strengthened their attack with the signing of former Raja Casablanca and Olympique Safi striker Younes Najari.
Najari joined the club on Tuesday as a free agent after leaving Olympique Safi, who finished bottom of the Moroccan first division last season.
The forward becomes the ninth new arrival at Ittihad Tanger during the current summer transfer window as the club continues to reshape its squad ahead of the new campaign.
Nine new arrivals
Najari’s signing follows the arrival of goalkeeper Badr Eddine Abaïr, Reda El-Milyani, Botswana international Gaby Mohotsiwa, Oussama Saddiki, Achraf Laaziri and Bosnian-German international Senad Jarovic.
Senegalese duo Babacar Sarr and Ibrahima Dieng have also joined the club as Ittihad Tanger look to improve their options across the squad.
The club have also secured the future of defender Bilal Al-Naama, who has signed a two-year contract extension.
Club balance arrivals with departures
While bringing in new players, Ittihad Tanger have also sought to maintain some continuity within the squad.
Zakaria El Kiani, Anas El Morabit and Badr Kadarin have all extended their contracts, providing the club with some stability ahead of the new season.
Nine players have meanwhile left the club.
Ittihad Tanger terminated the contracts of Dylan San Luis, Karim Lakrouch and Lefteti Kbolo, while Fawzi Abdelmottaleb, Zakaria El Baqqali, Seriki Sanogo, Baba Gaye, Hatem Chentouf and goalkeeper Youssef Laghzal also departed.
The club therefore currently have a near-even balance of nine new arrivals and nine departures as preparations continue for the new Moroccan league campaign.
Najari’s arrival is expected to add further attacking depth as Ittihad Tanger seek to build a stronger squad for the season ahead.
