South African forward Devin Titus bids emotional farewell to Stellenbosch FC after MAS Fes move
South African forward Devin Titus has paid an emotional tribute to Stellenbosch FC following his move to Moroccan champions MAS Fes.
Titus completed his transfer to the North African club last week, bringing an end to a long association with Stellenbosch, where he developed from a youngster into a professional footballer.
Reflecting on his departure, the 24-year-old admitted that leaving the club was an emotional moment but expressed excitement about beginning a new chapter in Morocco.
“It’s an emotional feeling for me to leave Stellenbosch,” Titus said in his farewell interview with the club.
“Stellenbosch is a team that gave me the opportunity to become a professional footballer and I will always be grateful for that.”
Despite his emotions, Titus is looking forward to testing himself in a new environment with MAS Fes, who he described as Moroccan champions and one of Africa’s biggest clubs.
“But I’m excited to join MAS Fes. They are the Moroccan champions and one of the biggest clubs in Africa,” he added.
“So I’m excited to experience a new challenge and test myself at this level.”
Titus also explained that there would never be a perfect moment to leave Stellenbosch, but he always wanted his departure to come after making a meaningful contribution to the club.
“There will never be a right or perfect time to leave Stellenbosch but it has always been important for me that if I left, I would do it after leaving the club in a better position,” he said.
The move to Morocco represents a significant step in Titus’ career, as he prepares to play outside South Africa for the first time.
The attacker will also have the opportunity to compete in the CAF Champions League, giving him a chance to experience continental football at the highest level.
“Now it will be my first time playing outside of the Betway Premiership so it’s a chance for me to feel what it’s like to play in a different country, to play in the Champions League and to compete at the highest level in African football,” Titus said.
“Hopefully I am able to carry the flag abroad.”
Titus will now look to make an immediate impact at MAS Fes while continuing his development on the continental stage after coming through the ranks at Stellenbosch.
