Amin Chiakha completes permanent Rosenborg move in record €5m deal
Amin Chiakha has completed a permanent move to Rosenborg after the Norwegian club activated its €5m purchase option with FC Copenhagen following an impressive loan spell.
The 20-year-old Algeria striker joined Rosenborg on loan in January and quickly established himself as an important player for the Trondheim side.
Chiakha scored 10 goals in 18 league appearances, while his recent form has been particularly strong. He has found the net seven times and provided two assists in his last six league matches.
Those performances convinced Rosenborg to make his stay permanent, with the club deciding to make a significant investment in the young forward.
The €5m fee makes Chiakha the most expensive signing in Norwegian football history, according to the information provided. He surpasses the previous record held by John Carew, whose move from Vålerenga to Rosenborg in 1999 cost about €2.75m.
Rosenborg’s decision to activate the purchase option reflects the confidence the club has developed in Chiakha after his first months in Norway.
The Algerian has now moved from being a temporary addition to becoming a permanent part of the club’s plans.
His goalscoring record has been central to that decision. After scoring 10 times in the league during his loan spell, Chiakha has shown that he can make a significant impact at senior level.
The move also represents another important stage in a career that has continued to develop quickly.
Before establishing himself with Rosenborg, Chiakha had already shown his goalscoring ability at youth level. He was joint top scorer in the 2023-24 Youth League, further highlighting the potential that has now begun to translate into professional football.
His performances in Norway have given him an opportunity to continue that progress and establish himself at a higher level.
Rosenborg will now hope the permanent signing marks the beginning of a longer and more successful relationship with the striker.
For Chiakha, the challenge will be to maintain the form that persuaded Rosenborg to make him one of the club’s biggest investments.
The move could also strengthen his chances of returning to Algeria’s national-team plans as he continues to develop his career in Norway.
After an impressive start to his time at Rosenborg, Chiakha now has the opportunity to build on that progress as a permanent member of the Norwegian club.
