Ibrahim Maza remains key to Bayer Leverkusen plans

Ibrahim Maza remains a central part of Bayer Leverkusen’s plans for the new season, with the German club prepared to consider his departure only if two specific conditions are met.

The 20-year-old Algeria international enjoyed an impressive first season at the highest level of European football and has emerged as one of Leverkusen’s most valuable sporting and financial assets.

Leverkusen have previously benefited significantly from the sales of young attacking talents such as Kai Havertz and Florian Wirtz, who moved to Chelsea and Liverpool respectively for substantial transfer fees. Maza is now viewed as the next player capable of commanding a major fee.

Despite interest surrounding the midfielder, Leverkusen are relying heavily on him as they prepare for the new Bundesliga campaign and a potential run in the Europa League.

Maza is regarded as an important part of the club’s plans, with his creativity and ability in midfield expected to play a significant role.

He is among the players considered to form the backbone of the squad alongside Mark Flekken, Edmond Tapsoba, Jarell Quansah, Patrik Schick and Christian Kofane.

A move away from the BayArena this summer therefore appears increasingly unlikely, but Leverkusen have identified two circumstances that could alter their position.

The first would be an exceptional financial proposal that the club’s board considers impossible to reject. The second is that Maza himself would have to make it clear that he wants to leave.

Both requirements would need to be fulfilled before Leverkusen would seriously consider allowing the Algeria international to depart.

With two weeks remaining before the transfer window closes across Europe’s major leagues, a transfer remains highly unlikely.

Maza is instead expected to continue his development in Germany as Leverkusen prepare for another demanding campaign.

His second season at the club is attracting significant attention, particularly from major European sides who have already been linked with the young midfielder.

Arsenal, Manchester City and FC Barcelona are among the clubs reported to be keeping an eye on his situation, but Leverkusen currently have no reason to actively seek a transfer.

For now, Maza remains an important part of the club’s sporting project, with only a major financial offer combined with a clear desire from the player capable of changing that position.
