Karim Coulibaly set for Ligue 1 move as Strasbourg transfer talks progress

RC Strasbourg are nearing an agreement with Werder Bremen over the transfer of 19-year-old defender Karim Coulibaly, with negotiations between the two clubs understood to have advanced significantly.

According to Foot Mercato, the sides are now close to reaching an agreement, although the final details of the deal still need to be settled before the move can be officially confirmed. Unless there is a late change in the situation, Coulibaly is expected to leave Germany and continue his development in Ligue 1 with Strasbourg.

The young defender, who is of Ivorian origin, has impressed Strasbourg’s recruitment team. The French club are keen to complete the deal quickly and see Coulibaly as a player capable of making further progress in their squad.

Coulibaly remains under contract with Werder Bremen until 30 June 2029. His current value is estimated at €28m by Transfermarkt, although the article does not specify the fee Strasbourg would pay to secure his services.

A move to Alsace would represent a significant step in Coulibaly’s early career. Strasbourg believe his profile fits their plans, and the club appear to be close to concluding the transfer after making substantial progress in discussions with Werder Bremen.

The defender currently earns an annual salary of €380,000 in Germany, equivalent to 247,000,000 CFA francs.

Werder Bremen are due to begin their Bundesliga campaign shortly with a match against Freiburg. The report also includes betting odds for that fixture through 1xBet, listing Werder Bremen at 3.40 to win, a draw at 3.40 and a Freiburg victory at 1.96. It also promotes the availability of the 1xBet application for download.

For now, Coulibaly remains a Werder Bremen player, but the developing talks suggest his time in Germany could soon come to an end. Strasbourg are working to resolve the outstanding elements of the transfer and bring the Ivorian defender to Ligue 1.
