Jerry Afriyie completes Genk move after Al-Qadsiah spell
Ghana striker Jerry Afriyie has joined Genk from Al-Qadsiah, bringing his time in Saudi Arabia to an end with a move to the Belgian club.
The 19-year-old centre-forward has signed a contract with Genk that runs until 30 June 2031. No transfer fee has been disclosed for the move.
Afriyie arrives at Genk after spending the 2025-26 campaign on loan at Belgian club La Louviere. He returned to Al-Qadsiah on 30 June before completing his switch to Genk on 18 August.
The forward originally joined La Louviere from Al-Qadsiah on loan on 24 August 2025. His previous spell away from the Saudi club came in the second half of the 2024-25 season, when he joined Spanish side CD Lugo on loan in January 2025.
Afriyie moved to Al-Qadsiah from Thoughts FC in January 2025. The transfer marked his first recorded switch to the Saudi Pro League club, before successive loan moves took him to Spain and Belgium.
Born in Sunyani, Ghana, Afriyie is listed as a centre-forward and favours his right foot. He stands 1.80 metres tall and joins Genk at the age of 19.
His arrival gives Genk a young Ghanaian option in the central attacking role as the club adds a player with experience of football in Saudi Arabia, Spain and Belgium. Afriyie’s most recent club was La Louviere, where he spent the 2025-26 season before returning to Al-Qadsiah.
He had not made an appearance in the recorded Saudi Pro League or King’s Cup matches for the 2026-27 season before leaving Al-Qadsiah. The move to Genk was completed on 18 August, with the player’s new agreement running for five years.
Afriyie’s transfer continues a career that has already included moves across three countries despite his age. He now begins a new chapter in Belgium with Genk, having left Al-Qadsiah after a sequence of temporary spells at La Louviere and CD Lugo.
The Ghana forward is contracted to Genk until June 2031.
