Al Mokawloon Al Arab complete free transfer for Beninese forward Doko Dodo

Al Mokawloon Al Arab have officially signed Beninese player Doko Dodo on a two-year contract, completing the deal as a free transfer after his departure from Portuguese club Leixoes.

The Egyptian club confirmed the move through its official Facebook account, announcing the arrival of the former Smouha player.

The agreement had been reported earlier, with Al Mokawloon Al Arab understood to have secured Doko’s signature without a transfer fee following his exit from Leixoes. Despite the summer transfer window in the Egyptian league closing on 15 August, the club succeeded in registering the player shortly before the deadline passed.

Doko joins Al Mokawloon Al Arab after a single season in Portugal. He moved to Leixoes last summer, having previously spent three years with Smouha, where he played between 2022 and 2025.

During his time with Smouha, Doko made 81 appearances, scoring two goals and providing one assist. He now returns to Egyptian football as part of Al Mokawloon Al Arab’s squad for the next two seasons.

The signing represents the club’s latest move following Doko’s spell in Portugal, where he spent only one campaign after leaving Smouha. His transfer to Al Mokawloon Al Arab was completed on a free basis, allowing the Egyptian side to finalise the deal despite the approaching registration deadline.

Doko had earlier played for Smouha before making the switch to Leixoes. His time with the Egyptian club remains the longest spell outlined in his recent career, with his 81 appearances coming between 2022 and 2025.

Al Mokawloon Al Arab’s announcement formally confirms the move after the club had previously been reported to have reached an agreement with the Beninese player. The newly signed player will remain under contract for two seasons.
