Al-Qadsiah agree €42m deal to sign Manchester City midfielder Tijjani Reijnders

Al-Qadsiah have agreed a deal with Manchester City to sign Netherlands midfielder Tijjani Reijnders for €42m, according to Saudi newspaper Al-Riyadiyah.

The report says Reijnders has agreed personal terms with Al-Qadsiah and will receive an annual salary of about €15m. The move would take the 27-year-old to the Saudi Pro League after only one season with Manchester City.

The deal follows an earlier report by The Athletic that Al-Qadsiah had reached a final agreement with Manchester City for Reijnders during the current summer transfer window. Al-Riyadiyah now says the Saudi club have secured the player’s signature, with the transfer valued at €42m.

Reijnders joined Manchester City from AC Milan one season ago on a contract running until 2030. His proposed departure would bring a swift end to his time at the Premier League club, despite the long-term agreement he signed on moving to England.

Before leaving Italy, Reijnders was named the best midfielder in Serie A. He scored 15 goals in all competitions during the campaign, appearing in 63 of AC Milan’s 64 matches.

The Netherlands international featured 47 times for Manchester City last season, scoring five goals and providing two assists. His performances attracted interest from Nottingham Forest during the summer, but Al-Qadsiah are now close to completing the transfer.

Reijnders’ move to Manchester City came after his standout season with AC Milan, where his goalscoring contribution and regular availability made him one of the division’s leading midfielders. He played almost every match available to the Italian club, missing only one of their 64 fixtures across all competitions.

Al-Qadsiah’s agreement with Manchester City represents one of the significant moves of the current Saudi transfer window. The final fee, reported at €42m, would see the club secure a player who has spent the past season competing at the highest level of English football.

The transfer remains described by the reports as being on its way to completion, although Al-Riyadiyah says the player has already signed with Al-Qadsiah. Reijnders is therefore set to leave Manchester City after 47 appearances, five goals and two assists in his only season with the club, while Nottingham Forest’s previous interest has not resulted in a rival deal.
