Espérance sign Moroccan forward Imad Faraj on three-year deal
Espérance Sportive de Tunis have completed the signing of Moroccan forward Imad Faraj from Azerbaijani club Neftchi, strengthening their squad ahead of the new season.
The Tunisian giants announced the arrival of the 27-year-old on Monday after finalizing all the necessary procedures for the transfer.
Faraj has signed a three-year contract with Espérance, keeping him at the club until 2029.
Faraj began his football development at the Lille academy in France, where he progressed through the club’s youth ranks before embarking on a professional career across Europe.
The Moroccan attacker has gained experience in several European leagues, with notable spells at Belgian side Mouscron and Cypriot club AEK Larnaca. His most recent move took him to Azerbaijan, where he represented Neftchi before securing his transfer to Espérance.
His arrival is part of Espérance’s continued efforts to build a competitive squad for the new campaign, with the club making several additions during the summer transfer window.
The Bab Souika outfit have also strengthened their ranks with Brazilian midfielder Lucas Ribeiro, Peruvian international Jesús Castillo and Cameroonian forward Mounié.
Espérance are now turning their attention to the start of the Tunisian Ligue Professionnelle 1, where they will be aiming to challenge for domestic honours.
Faraj’s versatility and experience from different European leagues are expected to provide additional attacking options as Espérance prepare for another demanding season on both the domestic and continental fronts.
