Juventus end speculation over Al Ahly goalkeeper Mustafa Shobair
Juventus have denied any interest in signing Al Ahly goalkeeper Mustafa Shobair during the current summer transfer window, ending reports that the Egypt international had emerged as a possible target for the Italian club.
The 25-year-old was named in several reports as one of the goalkeepers being considered by Juventus ahead of the new season. Those claims suggested that Shobair could be included among the candidates for a position the club was reportedly looking to strengthen.
However, Juventus have rejected the reports and made clear that Shobair is not part of their recruitment plans. Tribuna.com contacted the club’s media office to ask whether there had been any discussions or negotiations involving the Al Ahly goalkeeper.
The response from the Italian side was unequivocal, with a club representative completely denying any interest in acquiring the player.
“Juventus have absolutely no interest in signing Mustafa Shobair, and the player is not part of our plans,” a Juventus representative told Tribuna.com.
The statement rules out any move for Shobair to the Italian league during the current transfer market and confirms that Juventus have not opened negotiations with either the goalkeeper or his club.
Reports linking Shobair with a move abroad had followed a series of impressive performances for Egypt. The Al Ahly goalkeeper played a significant role in helping the national team reach the last 16 of the World Cup for the first time in its history.
His displays attracted attention from supporters and scouts at a number of clubs outside Egypt, leading to speculation that he could be considered for a move to Europe. Juventus were subsequently mentioned among the clubs allegedly monitoring his situation.
That speculation has now been dismissed by the Italian club. Juventus’ official response makes clear that Shobair is neither a current target nor part of their plans for the upcoming season.
The goalkeeper therefore remains linked with Al Ahly, with no indication from Juventus that a transfer is being considered during this summer’s window. The club’s comments also draw a line under the reports that had connected the Egypt international with a move to Turin.
For now, the only confirmed information is that Juventus have no interest in signing Shobair and that no talks have taken place over a possible transfer. The Italian club’s denial closes the latest rumours surrounding the goalkeeper’s future and his reported prospects of moving to Serie A.
