AC Milan set €35m asking price for Christopher Nkunku amid transfer interest

AC Milan have set a €35m asking price for Christopher Nkunku, with Roma, RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund interested in signing the France striker during the summer transfer window.

Sky Sport Italia reports that the Italian club would be prepared to approve Nkunku’s departure if their valuation is met.

The 28-year-old appears to have been left out of AC Milan’s plans for the new season. He was omitted from the squad for the club’s friendly against Manchester United and has also not been training alongside his team-mates.

Nkunku is part of a group of players who have been frozen out by the club, alongside Youssouf Fofana, Fikayo Tomori and Davide Odogu.

There is interest from two German clubs, with RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund monitoring the situation. Nkunku previously played for RB Leipzig before moving to Chelsea, while Roma attempted to sign him during the January transfer window and are preparing to renew their efforts.

Nkunku joined AC Milan from Chelsea last summer in a deal worth €37m, with a further €5m available in performance-related add-ons. The agreement also includes a percentage of any future resale fee.

Despite AC Milan’s €35m valuation, Nkunku could leave the club on loan next season rather than through a permanent transfer. Reports indicate that any temporary move could include an option for the buying club to sign him permanently at the end of the campaign.

His contract with AC Milan runs until 2030. Nkunku is currently 28 and will turn 29 in November.

The forward has also been linked with a possible move to Barcelona. The Catalan club have so far been unable to complete a deal to strengthen their attacking options, leaving Nkunku among the players associated with a potential move to Camp Nou.

Nkunku’s uncertain position at AC Milan follows his recent exclusion from both first-team training and the squad for the Manchester United friendly. The club’s decision to set a €35m price suggests a permanent transfer remains possible, although a loan with a purchase option could provide an alternative solution before the end of the summer window.

Roma’s interest dates back to January, when the Italian side first tried to secure his signature. Their renewed pursuit will take place alongside approaches from RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund, giving AC Milan several potential destinations for the striker if he is allowed to leave.

With Nkunku contracted for another four years, AC Milan retain control over the negotiations. However, his omission from recent match and training plans indicates that both the player and the club may be seeking a resolution before the new season begins.
