David Simukonda: Zambian midfielder joins El Gouna from Cleopatra FC
Zambia midfielder David Simukonda has joined El Gouna from Cleopatra FC, completing a move between two Egyptian Premier League clubs.
The 21-year-old defensive midfielder arrives at El Gouna after six months with Cleopatra, having moved to the club from ZESCO United in January 2026. Simukonda’s latest transfer was completed on 15 August, as El Gouna strengthened its midfield options ahead of the new campaign.
Simukonda made seven appearances in the CAF Confederation Cup during his time at Cleopatra and scored once. He also featured in the Egypt Cup, playing 12 minutes in one appearance.
The move gives El Gouna a player with experience of domestic Egyptian football and continental competition. Simukonda has primarily operated in defensive midfield and is naturally right-footed.
Before joining Cleopatra, Simukonda spent the first part of 2026 with ZESCO United, the Zambian club where he began his senior career after coming through its youth system. He joined ZESCO from his own youth setup in August 2023.
His switch to El Gouna represents the second club change of Simukonda’s senior career and keeps him in Egypt’s top-flight football structure. Both his previous clubs, Cleopatra FC and ZESCO United, have provided the midfielder with experience in league, cup and continental competitions.
Simukonda’s arrival also continues his progression since leaving youth football three years ago. After establishing himself at ZESCO United, he moved to Cleopatra in January before making another move within the Egyptian Premier League during the summer transfer window.
El Gouna have now secured the services of the Zambia international midfielder, with Simukonda joining the club from Cleopatra FC on 15 August 2026.
