Kaizer Chiefs face Mamelodi Sundowns with perfect Betway Premiership record at stake

Kaizer Chiefs will put their 100% start to the Betway Premiership season on the line when they face Mamelodi Sundowns at FNB Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Fernando da Cruz’s side have won both of their opening league matches and are the only team in the competition to have collected maximum points from their first two games.

Chiefs moved to the top of the table on Wednesday after a 2-0 victory over Sekhukhune United. They now face a Mamelodi Sundowns team that began their campaign with a 3-2 win against TS Galaxy on Tuesday night.

The Brazilians have scored three goals in their opening fixture but have conceded four across their two encounters this campaign, a defensive record that will concern manager Miguel Cardoso.

Both teams have now confirmed their starting line-ups for the meeting in Soweto.

Kaizer Chiefs line up with Petersen in goal, behind a defensive unit featuring Monyane, Miguel, Kwinika and Moloisane. Mthethwa and Maboe are named in midfield, while Ndlovu, Mmodi and Phili support Baartman in attack.

Mamelodi Sundowns select Williams as their goalkeeper, with Mudau, Modiba, Grant Kekana, Johannes and Aubass forming the defensive options in the starting side.

Van Wyk, Allende, Mkhulise and Matthews are also included, with Leon completing the line-up.

The match will be played at FNB Stadium on 15 August 2026, with the teams meeting in the latest round of the South African top flight.
