Mady Camara turns down Saudi offer as European clubs consider PAOK midfielder

Mady Camara has rejected a proposed move to Saudi Arabia and is weighing interest from several European clubs as the transfer window approaches its conclusion.

The Guinea international, 29, is currently under contract with PAOK until 30 June 2027, but his experience across France, Greece and Italy has made him an attractive option for clubs seeking an established central midfielder.

Camara previously played for AC Ajaccio, Olympiacos and AS Roma before joining PAOK. That background, combined with his international experience, has helped generate interest from teams in a number of leagues in Europe and the Middle East.

According to Foot Mercato, Camara recently turned down a contract offer from Saudi Arabia worth an estimated €1.8m net per year. He has also attracted attention from clubs in Turkey, Russia, Qatar and the Saudi Pro League.

Despite those approaches, Camara’s preference is to remain in a competitive European championship. That ambition has encouraged a number of clubs in France, Spain and Italy to make contact with his representatives in recent weeks.

SC Freiburg are among the sides monitoring the situation, according to exclusive information reported by Africafoot. The German club’s interest adds to the growing list of potential destinations for a player who has yet to decide where he will continue his career.

PAOK are understood to be willing to let Camara leave as the Greek club looks to reduce its wage bill. However, until a suitable offer arrives, the midfielder remains part of the club’s plans and could continue to be involved in first-team duties.

Camara’s market value is estimated at €5m, although PAOK’s willingness to consider a transfer could depend on the terms of any proposal received. His existing contract gives the club a degree of protection, while the player’s preference for European football may also shape negotiations in the final stages of the window.

PAOK are due to begin their Greek league campaign against Levadiakos shortly. Camara remains available to the club for that fixture while discussions over his future continue.

The betting company 1xBet lists PAOK as favourites for the match, offering odds of 1.30 for a home victory. A draw is priced at 4.64, while a Levadiakos win is listed at 8.07.
