Cristiano Ronaldo returns to Al Nassr training after wedding

Cristiano Ronaldo has returned to Al Nassr training as the club prepares for the new season, just days after marrying Argentine model Georgina Rodriguez.

The Portugal international took part in his first training session with Al Nassr on Thursday, as preparations began for the 2026-27 campaign. The opening round of the Saudi Pro League also got under way on the same day.

However, Ronaldo is expected to miss Al Nassr’s first two competitive matches of the season, according to Saudi newspaper Al Riyadiya.

Al Nassr will begin their defence of the Saudi Pro League title against Al Fateh on Saturday. Three days later, they will face Al-Diriyah in the last 32 of the King Cup.

Ronaldo had been absent from Al Nassr’s pre-season preparations after being granted additional leave. The extra break followed his involvement with Portugal at the 2026 World Cup.

The 41-year-old forward played five matches at the tournament and scored three goals. Portugal were eliminated in the last 16 by Spain, losing 1-0 after Mikel Merino scored in the final minutes.

Ronaldo returned to club training shortly after celebrating his wedding to Rodriguez on Tuesday. His return provides Al Nassr with one of the central figures from the side that won the Saudi Pro League title last season.

Since joining the club, Ronaldo has made 142 appearances for Al Nassr, scoring 123 goals and providing 24 assists.

His absence from the opening fixtures means he will not be involved as Al Nassr begin their attempt to retain the league title, despite having resumed work with the squad. The club’s first priority will be Saturday’s meeting with Al Fateh, followed by the King Cup tie against Al-Diriyah.

Ronaldo’s delayed arrival was linked to his extended rest after the World Cup, where he featured prominently for Portugal before their last-16 exit. He now begins preparations with Al Nassr as the club starts its new domestic campaign across the Saudi Pro League and King Cup.
