Mansoura appoint Yasser Abdel Wahed as head coach ahead of Professional League opener
Mansoura have appointed Yasser Abdel Wahed as their new head coach, just one week before the start of the new Professional League season, with the club targeting promotion to the Egyptian Premier League.
The club confirmed Abdel Wahed’s appointment as it prepares to begin its campaign in the second division, known as the Professional League. His arrival marks a change in the technical leadership following Mansoura’s 10th-place finish last season.
Mansoura collected 44 points during the previous Professional League campaign, when the team was managed by Hossam Abdel Aal. The club will now begin the new season under Abdel Wahed, who has been placed in charge of a newly formed technical and administrative structure.
The full Mansoura staff is:
– Hisham Samir – football director – Yasser Abdel Wahed – head coach – Dawoud Nasr – assistant coach – Mohamed Abdel Kader – assistant coach – Jaber El-Garayehy – goalkeeping coach – Sabry Abdel Kader – fitness coach – Khaled Abdel Razek – performance analyst – Mohamed Shehab – administrative director – Wael Hafez – administrator – Mohamed El-Sarougy – team doctor – Adel Hassan – physiotherapist – Abdel Rahman Hussein – physiotherapist – Ismail Abdel Ghafar – masseur
The appointment has been made with the new campaign already close to beginning, leaving Abdel Wahed and his staff limited time to prepare the squad for competitive action.
Mansoura’s first fixture of the season will be against Baladiyat El Mahalla next Thursday. That match will provide the first test of the team under its new head coach and the first opportunity for the club to begin its attempt to improve on last season’s 10th-place finish.
The club’s stated objective for the upcoming Professional League campaign is to compete for promotion to the Egyptian Premier League. To pursue that ambition, Mansoura have opted for a complete coaching and support structure featuring separate responsibilities for football operations, coaching, goalkeeping, fitness, performance analysis, administration and medical care.
Abdel Wahed will lead the technical team, supported by Nasr and Mohamed Abdel Kader as assistant coaches. Jaber El-Garayehy will work with the goalkeepers, while Sabry Abdel Kader will oversee the players’ physical preparation. Khaled Abdel Razek has been appointed performance analyst.
The administrative and medical teams will be led by Hisham Samir as football director and Mohamed Shehab as administrative director. Wael Hafez will also serve in an administrative role, with Mohamed El-Sarougy, Adel Hassan, Abdel Rahman Hussein and Ismail Abdel Ghafar responsible for the club’s medical and treatment requirements.
Mansoura’s opening match against Baladiyat El Mahalla will begin the club’s latest effort to secure a place in the top flight.
