Akram Tawfik joins Al Ahly camp

Al Ahly have confirmed the arrival of new signing Akram Tawfik at the club’s training camp in Spain as preparations continue for the upcoming season.

Tawfik joined his new teammates on Thursday morning at the external training camp, which is currently being held in Spain and is scheduled to continue until August 20.

The midfielder’s arrival comes just one day after Al Ahly officially announced his return to the club on a three-year contract.

The Egyptian giants secured Tawfik’s services on a free transfer, adding an experienced player to their squad as they prepare for another demanding campaign.

The 28-year-old is now expected to begin working with the rest of the squad and the technical staff as Al Ahly continue their preparations under head coach José Riveiro.

His arrival comes at an important stage of the club’s pre-season programme, with Al Ahly using their camp in Spain to build fitness, improve tactical understanding and give the players valuable minutes ahead of the new campaign.

The Red Castle have already begun their series of friendly matches in Spain, recording a convincing 3-0 victory over Spanish side Badalona on Wednesday evening.

The match was played at the Bosque de Tosa Stadium as part of Al Ahly’s preparations, with the Egyptian club continuing to build momentum during their overseas camp.

Following the victory over Badalona, Al Ahly will play another friendly against Europa next Friday.

The match will provide the coaching staff with another opportunity to assess the squad and give players valuable playing time before the club’s highly anticipated meeting with Barcelona.

Tawfik’s return to the squad adds further experience and depth to Al Ahly’s midfield, while his familiarity with the club could allow him to settle quickly into the team.

The Egyptian international previously represented Al Ahly before moving away from the club, and his return has now been confirmed after the two parties reached an agreement over a three-year contract.

The club will be hoping that Tawfik can quickly regain his rhythm and become an important part of the squad during the new season.

One of the biggest highlights of Al Ahly’s Spanish camp will be their clash with Barcelona in the prestigious Joan Gamper Trophy.

Al Ahly are scheduled to face the Spanish giants on August 19 in the 61st edition of the Joan Gamper Trophy at Camp Nou.

The highly anticipated encounter is scheduled to kick off at 9:00 PM Cairo time.

The Barcelona fixture will provide Al Ahly with a major test ahead of the new campaign and is expected to attract significant attention in both Egypt and across African football.

For Tawfik, the Barcelona match could also represent an early opportunity to make his presence felt following his return to the Red Castle, depending on the decision of the technical staff.

With the training camp continuing until August 20, Al Ahly will use the remaining days in Spain to fine-tune their preparations, assess their new additions and ensure the squad is ready for the challenges of the upcoming season.

Tawfik’s arrival therefore comes at an important moment, with the midfielder now officially reunited with his teammates and ready to begin the next chapter of his career with the Egyptian giants.
