Ferran Torres misses Barcelona training again as Paris Saint-Germain move nears

Ferran Torres has missed Barcelona training for a second consecutive day as he waits for the club to decide when he can travel to France to complete a proposed move to Paris Saint-Germain.

The Spain forward has reportedly agreed with Barcelona not to take part in training while negotiations over the transfer are finalised. According to Marca, Torres told the Spanish club last week that he had accepted Paris Saint-Germain’s offer and wanted to work with Luis Enrique again.

Torres is now waiting for confirmation from Barcelona that he can travel to Paris. That could happen on Thursday or, at the latest, Friday, depending on the progress of talks between the two clubs and Paris Saint-Germain’s schedule.

Paris Saint-Germain won the UEFA Super Cup on Wednesday evening, and the club’s commitments have also been a factor in determining when Torres can make the journey. He will undergo a medical in the French capital before the transfer can be formally completed.

Negotiations are believed to be close to an agreement, with the deal expected to be worth about €50m. However, the transfer had not been officially concluded at the time of the report, which explains why Torres had not yet travelled to France.

The proposed move would provide Barcelona with a significant financial benefit. The club would recover almost the full amount it paid to sign Torres from Manchester City in January 2021, when the transfer was reported to be worth approximately €55m.

Torres would join Paris Saint-Germain with one year remaining on his Barcelona contract. The move would reunite him with Luis Enrique, who insisted on signing the forward, despite Torres also being regarded as an important part of Hansi Flick’s plans at Barcelona.

The 2025-26 season was a productive one for Torres. He made 49 appearances in all competitions for Barcelona and scored 21 goals. He finished the campaign as the club’s leading scorer, with 16 of those goals helping Barcelona win La Liga for a second successive season after their title contest with Real Madrid.

Barcelona also retained the Spanish Super Cup, beating Real Madrid 3-2 in the final. It was Torres’ second consecutive Spanish Super Cup triumph.

Torres also played a decisive role in Spain’s 2026 World Cup success. He scored the winning goal in the 106th minute, during the second period of extra time, as Spain secured the title.

The forward has scored 25 goals in 65 appearances for Spain and remains an established member of La Roja’s squad.

If Barcelona gives him permission to leave, Torres is expected to travel to Paris immediately, with the medical examination the next major step before his transfer to Paris Saint-Germain is completed.

Barcelona are due to begin the new season away to Elche in the opening round of La Liga at the Manuel Martinez Valero stadium.
