Galatasaray make €45m offer for Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli, says Sky Sports

Galatasaray have submitted a formal offer worth €45m for Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli, according to Sky Sports.

The Turkish champions have made the Brazil international their priority target in the current transfer market as they look to strengthen their attacking options.

The proposal is now with Arsenal, who must consider whether to accept the offer or retain the 25-year-old. Martinelli’s contract at Emirates Stadium runs until the summer of 2027, meaning the club may also have to weigh up the value of the bid with only one year remaining on his deal after the current season.

Martinelli joined Arsenal from Brazil in February 2019. He has since made 191 Premier League appearances for the club, scoring 41 goals.

At international level, the forward has won 27 caps for Brazil and has scored five goals.

Galatasaray had previously been negotiating with Rafael Leao, but those talks have stalled. Martinelli has subsequently emerged as the alternative target if the Turkish club cannot persuade the AC Milan winger to move to Istanbul.

Arsenal have also been active in the search for wide players during the summer. They tried to sign Vinicius Junior before the Real Madrid forward extended his contract with the Spanish club until 2032.

The Gunners have added Greece winger Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge, while Eberechi Eze is also available on the left side of the attack after joining Arsenal from Crystal Palace last season.

Arsenal are interested in Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola as well, although they face competition from Liverpool for the France international.

Their summer recruitment has also included Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, in a transfer reported to be worth £75m.

The club are preparing to begin the new season against Manchester City in the Community Shield on Sunday.

Arsenal will then start their Premier League campaign at Emirates Stadium against newly promoted Coventry City.

They are aiming to retain the title they won last season, having ended a 22-year wait for the championship. The potential departure of Martinelli would therefore come as a significant decision for manager and club, particularly with the new campaign about to begin and several attacking options already linked with a move to north London.
