Abde Ezzalzouli returns to training after recovery

Moroccan international Abdel Samad Ezzalzouli has taken an important step towards returning to competitive action after rejoining Real Betis’ first-team training following a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

The winger returned to group training with the Spanish club on Tuesday, marking his first involvement with the squad this summer since suffering a knee injury while on international duty with Morocco.

Ezzalzouli had been working on an individual rehabilitation programme since returning from his holiday, following a specific recovery plan designed by Real Betis’ medical and technical staff.

The 24-year-old was able to complete the opening 15 minutes of Tuesday’s training session alongside his teammates before returning to individual work.

Although he has not yet been cleared to complete a full session, his involvement represents significant progress in his recovery and suggests he is edging closer to regaining full fitness.

Ezzalzouli suffered a knee ligament sprain approximately two months ago while preparing with the Moroccan national team for the World Cup. The injury ruled him out of the tournament and forced him to begin a lengthy rehabilitation process.

Since then, the Real Betis attacker has been working under a carefully managed recovery programme as the club’s medical team gradually increased the intensity of his training.

His return to partial group training is therefore an encouraging development for both the player and Real Betis, particularly with the new season fast approaching.

Real Betis’ upcoming pre-season friendly against Inter Milan next Saturday could potentially provide Ezzalzouli with an opportunity to make his return to match action, although that will depend on his physical condition and whether he receives medical clearance from the club’s staff.

The Andalusian side are expected to take no unnecessary risks with the Moroccan, given the length of his absence and the nature of his injury.

His eventual return will nevertheless be a major boost for coach Manuel Pellegrini, who will have another attacking option at his disposal once Ezzalzouli is fully fit.

The Moroccan winger enjoyed an important role for Betis before his injury and will now be focused on completing the final stages of his rehabilitation and building up his match fitness.

With the new campaign drawing closer, Ezzalzouli’s return to group training offers renewed optimism that he could soon be back on the pitch and ready to contribute for both club and country.
