Modena have reportedly identified Torino Primavera midfielder Wisdom Acquah as a potential transfer target following the serious knee injury suffered by Alessandro Sersanti.

The 19-year-old has impressed at youth level for Torino and is now attracting interest as Modena explore options to reinforce their midfield before the season gathers pace.

Sersanti suffered a complete tear of the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during a friendly against Vis Pesaro. He is expected to undergo surgery and rehabilitation, with his initial recovery projected to take between five and six months, followed by further time to regain match fitness.

That absence has accelerated Modena’s search for cover, and Acquah has emerged prominently in the club’s thinking. Sporting director Andrea Bonato and technical director Davide Catellani are assessing possible recruits, with the Torino youngster regarded as a player of considerable promise.

Catanzaro are also monitoring Acquah, but Modena could look to move quickly and get ahead in the race. The Italian-Ghanaian midfielder has produced encouraging performances with Torino’s Primavera side and is viewed as ready for a step toward senior football.

Coach Massimo Galloppa retains alternatives, but Acquah would add depth and long-term potential. Modena begin their Coppa Italia campaign at Venezia on Saturday.
