Barcelona’s Hansi Flick keeps six players out of team training amid transfer exits

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has separated six players from the club’s group training as he attempts to protect them while they look for moves away this summer, according to Spanish newspaper Sport.

Marc Casado, Hector Fort, Tommy Marques, Jofre Torrents, Toni Fernandez and Guille Fernandez trained individually on Tuesday after Barcelona’s management told them they could leave the club.

The decision follows the serious injury suffered by Roony Bardghji, who damaged his anterior cruciate ligament during Barcelona training on Monday. The injury occurred while the club was attempting to find another team for the winger.

Sport reported on Monday that Bardghji had suffered a tear to his anterior cruciate ligament. The injury was sustained in the same leg in which he had previously been injured.

Bardghji’s fitness problem is expected to affect his chances of leaving Barcelona, with several clubs having shown an interest in signing him. His injury came at a particularly difficult time for the player, who had been told by Flick a few days earlier that he was not part of the manager’s plans.

As a result, Bardghji was left out of Barcelona’s travelling squad for their matches against Nottingham Forest and Udinese.

The winger had spent the pre-season trying to convince Flick of his ability after moving to Barcelona from Copenhagen last summer. He made 28 appearances for the Catalan club in all competitions last season and scored two goals.

Barcelona’s decision to keep the six players away from collective sessions is intended to reduce the risk of another injury affecting their potential transfers. The club has opened the door for all six to leave, and they trained separately on Tuesday rather than taking part with the rest of Flick’s squad.

Bardghji’s case has highlighted the uncertainty surrounding players whose futures are unresolved during pre-season. His injury not only ruled him out of consideration for the immediate fixtures but also created an additional obstacle as interested clubs assess whether to pursue a deal.

Flick had already made his position clear to Bardghji before the winger was excluded from the trips to face Nottingham Forest and Udinese. The player, who has Syrian roots, had nevertheless continued working to earn a place in the manager’s plans during preparations that began several weeks ago.

The six players now training individually are Casado, Fort, Marques, Torrents, Toni Fernandez and Guille Fernandez. Barcelona have informed them that they are free to seek new clubs, while Flick’s approach is designed to safeguard their fitness during the remainder of the transfer process.
