Spanish La Liga outfit Sevilla are reportedly exploring a move to bring Nigerian-born striker George Ilenikhena back to European football after his difficult start at Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad.

According to reports, negotiations are ongoing between the parties as Sevilla assess the possibility of signing the highly-rated forward on a temporary basis.

The Andalusian club are believed to be interested in a loan deal that would allow Ilenikhena to return to Europe and gain valuable playing time after struggling to establish himself in the Al-Ittihad first team.

The 19-year-old joined the Saudi Arabian giants from AS Monaco in February 2026, but his opportunities have been limited since making the move to Jeddah.

Ilenikhena has reportedly made only six appearances for Al-Ittihad, with just one of those coming as a starter. The lack of regular minutes has raised the possibility of a temporary exit, with the young striker understood to be keen on returning to European football.

Sevilla are now considering whether a loan arrangement could provide the ideal environment for Ilenikhena to regain his rhythm, gain consistent first-team experience and continue his development at the highest level.

The Spanish club could view the Nigerian-born forward as a player with significant potential, particularly given his age and previous experience in European football.

Before moving to Saudi Arabia, Ilenikhena developed a reputation as one of Europe’s promising young forwards during his time at Monaco. His move to Al-Ittihad represented a significant step in his career, but limited playing opportunities have so far prevented him from making a sustained impact.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding his immediate future, Ilenikhena remains contracted to Al-Ittihad on a long-term agreement. His current deal reportedly runs until the end of the 2028/29 season, meaning any move to Sevilla would likely be structured as a loan rather than a permanent transfer.

A return to La Liga could therefore give Ilenikhena the opportunity to revive his career in Europe while allowing Al-Ittihad to retain control of his long-term future.

For Sevilla, the potential arrival of the 19-year-old would provide another young attacking option, while Ilenikhena could benefit from regular competitive football as he looks to fulfil his considerable potential.
