Benevento weigh up move for unattached Nigeria striker David Okereke

David Okereke, the 28-year-old Nigeria centre-forward currently without a club, has been linked with a move to Benevento in Serie B.

The rumour emerged on 11 August, with Benevento identified as the Italian club interested in Okereke. No agreement has been confirmed, and the available information does not include details of a proposed contract or transfer fee.

Okereke is listed with a market value of €1.4m. The Lagos-born striker has played as a centre-forward throughout his recorded profile and is right-footed.

His most notable honours came during his time with Club Brugge, where he was part of three Belgian championship-winning squads. He won the league title in the 2019-20, 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons, before also adding the Belgian Super Cup in 2021-22.

Okereke’s current status could make him an appealing option for Benevento as they consider attacking reinforcements, although the rumour remains at an early stage. The Nigerian forward has been listed as without a club since 1 July 2026, and there is no indication yet that he has agreed terms with the Serie B side.
