Konyaspor increase offer for Al Ahly midfielder Imam Ashour

Konyaspor have increased their offer to Al Ahly for Egypt international midfielder Imam Ashour, with the Turkish club now proposing a fee of $4.25m, according to a source close to the player.

“Konyaspor remain interested in signing Imam Ashour and have increased their offer to Al Ahly to $4.25m,” the source told FilGoal.com.

Ashour’s current contract with Al Ahly runs until the summer of 2028, but the club have recently offered him improved terms in an attempt to renew his agreement.

FilGoal.com understands that Al Ahly’s proposed new contract would earn Ashour 35m Egyptian pounds per season. He would be placed in the club’s top salary category, at the same level as the terms recently offered to goalkeeper Mustafa Shobeir and defender Mohamed Hany.

Al Ahly previously rejected an approach from Konyaspor for Ashour because the financial offer was considered too low. The latest proposal represents an increase from the Turkish club as they continue to pursue the 28-year-old.

Ashour has also been linked in reports from Saudi Arabia with a move to Al-Ittihad, while Scottish club Celtic have likewise been reported as interested in the midfielder.

The former Ghazl El Mahalla and Zamalek player joined Al Ahly in the summer of 2023 from Danish side Midtjylland. Since moving to the Cairo-based club, he has made 105 appearances in all competitions, scoring 32 goals and providing 25 assists.

During that period, Ashour has won the Egyptian Premier League twice, the Egypt Cup, the Egyptian Super Cup twice, three Continental Cups and the CAF Champions League. He has also helped Al Ahly claim a bronze medal at the FIFA Club World Cup.

Ashour was also on target twice for Egypt at the 2026 World Cup. He scored his first goal of the tournament against Belgium with a powerful long-range strike before heading in his second against Australia.

Those goals were the first of Ashour’s international career. He has now played 34 matches for the Pharaohs.

Al Ahly’s decision to place Ashour among its highest-paid players underlines his importance to the club, although Konyaspor’s revised bid could lead to further discussions over his future. For now, the midfielder remains under contract in Egypt, with the Turkish club having made its interest clear through an improved financial offer.
